Information required for getting a pump station designed
When designing a pump station it is important to consider all possibilities. Your project needs to be fully envisioned in order to meet all requirements when a pump station is designed, manufactured and installed. You don’t want any aspects of your pump station to be missing, as it would make its operation difficult for your development.
Below is a list of potential aspects to consider before enquiring about getting a bespoke pump station designed:
Types of material being pumped
This is generally either foul waste or surface water, very rarely would it be combined. We have provided effluent pump stations to trades.
Number of users, or the surface area that needs to be drained
In order to design a pump station that meets all requirements, it’s important to make sure that it can accommodate your specific scheme. If you receive a design that is too large, you may have to pay more than you need to. If you get a design that is too small, it may not be able to handle the amount of water and waste of the application it will be assigned to.
Potential flow rate
The flow rate of water will determine how many pumps are required within your pump station. This will allow your pump station to be designed in a way that can handle that much water in a relatively short amount of time. Over 95% of applications will require twin pumps (sometimes 3 or 4).
Pumping Duties
The distance and height of the waste or water to be pumped through the pump station will determine what size or power pump station will be required.

Benefits of a “bespoke” pump station design over “off-the-shelf” systems
Not many applications involving a pump station are the same. Everything from the chamber size to the pumping distances/lifts will differ from site to site, even if it is only a slight change.
Pump station Commissioning and Service
Maintenance of underground pumping stations is an important aspect of ensuring efficient and effective operation. Pumping stations are an important part of wastewater and surface water management. It collects water and sewage from low-lying areas and pumps it upstream to the mains foul sewer or discharge point.
